Water Filter

Since Shannon drinks water from the well, she has to purify it with this Peace Corps issued filtering system.

First she pours well water into the filter through the yellow bandana to catch the twigs and other large debris.  The water then goes through ceramic candles that are inside it.  Finally, chlorine is added -- you can see the brown dropper bottle next to the filter.

Using the spigot at the bottom, she puts her drinking water in plastic Nalgene bottles (from REI in America) that she carries with her almost all the time. Three of the bottles are sitting on the floor at the bottom of the photo.
