OBITUARY

Dorine Diehl Williams, age 93, died March 31, 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee. There will be a memorial service in Arlington Heights, Illinois in August. 

Dorine was born January 13, 1918, in Carbondale, Illinois to Christian H. and Jennie (Deichmann) Diehl. She spent her early years in the Effingham, Illinois area and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1938. On May 27, 1939 she was united in marriage in Nashville, Tennessee to John Curtis Williams, and he preceded her in death in 1969.  They raised their family in Des Plaines, Illinois.  Dorine volunteered in the community and taught English and Social Studies at Park Ridge School for Girls in the 1960s.  In 1974 she moved to Longboat Key, Florida and in 2001 to Nashville. 

Dorine was happy, fun-loving, socially active and an avid bridge player.  She traveled extensively and loved reading but not housework. She will be greatly missed and long remembered. 

She is survived by her three children, son John C. "Jack" Williams of Nashville and daughters Jill (John) Bishop of Annandale, Minnesota and Jean Williams of Visalia, California; five grandchildren, Sara Aubitz, Hannah Page, Shannon Bishop, Michelle Williams, and Jefferson Bishop; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Jennie Diehl; and husband John.

Memorials are preferred to Salvation Army.
